What can I expect in a worship service? What about children in worship? What do we believe? |

We believe the biblical story is one of relationships between God and people and between people and people. It's the story of people messing up those relationships (the Bible calls it sin) and how God keeps calling people back into relationship with God through God's love and mercy and grace. (See definitions below.) We believe God loves everyone and wants to have a close relationship with each person. God invites us into the relationship. It is up to us to respond. We believe that such a relationship with God is essential to experience the "abundant life" God promises. In his life Jesus expressed God's love. In his death and resurrection Jesus demonstrated that that love never dies and never quits. Jesus makes it possible to come into a relationship with God. When we commit to that relationship, we call it "becoming a Christian," or "being a follower of Jesus." We understand it to be a life-long journey of exploration and growth. The Holy Spirit is at work in our world and our lives today. We don't always understand how the Spirit works, but we believe the Spirit makes a difference in our lives as we are open to his leading. Definitions: God's love: unconditional, there is nothing we can do that will cause God to stop loving us God's mercy: not giving to a person what they deserve God's grace: giving to a person what they do not deserve |
